Manchester United have appeared heavily reliant on their younger players so far this campaign. In fact, repeatedly in the Premier League as well as in Europa League fixtures, the Red Devils have fielded record-breaking average starting lineups composing of youthful players.
A large chunk of these are academy graduates with more powerful statistics even showing how these players have contributed to the lion’s share of United’s goal creation and scoring this season.
However, the brilliance of a few like Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams who have won the affirmation of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as well as the love fans may overshadow the uncertainty of other graduates.
According to the Telegraph, Manchester United starlets Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes are open to leave the club in 2020. Both their contracts expire in the summer, which naturally means that they will be free to negotiate terms with foreign pursuers in a week’s time when the January transfer window opens.
There is plenty of interest in that regard and from big-names too. Chong has been linked to Juventus in the past and the report adds that Gomes may be attracting interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
As of such, there is plenty on the table for these youngsters to consider. Chong appears to be low on the pecking order as his few appearances haven’t been immensely positive. Gomes appears to have been left out largely due to injuries although some of his social media actions have led to much speculation about club rapport.
United in general and Solskjaer, in particular, is keen on using the academy platform to build the club’s near and distant future. However, losing two such highly acclaimed youth players within a year of taking over doesn’t bode well either.
Will any of these two players remain a Red Devil during the coming decade?
