Mason Greenwood at Manchester United has been an absolutely exceptional sight. At just 18 years of age, the youth academy graduate has been having an excellent season and has continued to make heads turn with his goal-scoring prowess.
Prior to the lockdown, he moments of impact arrived largely in Europe, domestic cup games, and in late cameo substitutions, but he has now managed to successfully oust Daniel James from the starting lineup and that too to great effect in the Premier League.
The teenager followed up on his goal against Brighton and Hove Albion with an excellent brace versus AFC Bournemouth on Saturday at Old Trafford.
His playing style and the majestic manner of finishing and shot-taking have resulted in a lot of comparisons being drawn between him and Robin van Persie.
While the Dutch striker who is also a former United player is well aware of the comparisons, he was once more quizzed on whether he has been watching Greenwood and his resultant reply and review of the starlet is certainly something.
Yeah I am! Great team play at the first goal, clever movement, silky 1st touch and class finish of Greenwood 👏🔥 https://t.co/Dceuupi4Yu

Greenwood has now netted 15 goals across all competitions this season, 8 of these coming in the Premier League.
The Englishman has been excellent and the trust that Ole Gunnar Solskjær placed on him at the start of the campaign by not immediately investing in a new striker and loaning out Alexis Sanchez has certainly seen fruition and paid due dividend.
He now seems almost certain to join Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial’s tally of netting 20 goals by the time this season comes to an end.
While Van Persie had his short yet impactful time at United, Greenwood certainly has all the potential to spend many years perfecting his ability even more and fans will certainly be expecting that he can continue delivering these numbers consistently in the future.
