Manchester United Identify Dembele As Cheaper Alternative To Sancho
Ousmane Dembele emerges as a cheaper alternative to Jadon Sancho for Manchester United.
The Englishman has had a terrific season so far with 17 goals and 16 assists in Bundesliga. Which strikes a stark contrast with his time at Borussia Dortmund off the pitch lately.
It was widely reported that Sancho has experienced internal conflicts and shares a feeling with his club that it is best for him to depart.
Meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly made the 20-year-old his top-priority target this summer. The Red Devils lack an out-and-out right-winger after Daniel James proved to be too one dimensional.
However, United are not willing to match Dortmund’s valuation of €100 million for the England international. Solskjaer’s side are said to be willing to pay around €56 million due to the repercussions faced following the changes that the ongoing pandemic brought on.
Nevertheless, according to The Athletic, if the English giants fail to bring down the Man City academy product’s pricetag, they will attempt to lure Ousmane Dembele to Old Trafford.
Furthermore, the report states that the Mancunians want to keep the net spend this summer around €56 million. Meaning the Premier League side will have to offload players in order to maintain that balance. This is one of the reasons the Barcelona man is being considered as an option as he may be fetched for a cheaper rate.
The Frenchman has not experienced the dream move to Camp Nou he may have expected due to constant injury woes and inconsistent performances that resulted from it. This has brought down the winger’s valuation significantly.
It is said that Barca’s financial situation may incite them to offload the France international.
On the other hand, the report goes on to say the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Chris Smalling, Jesse Lingard, Diogo Dalot, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones are options to be offloaded to balance the books.
