Jude Bellingham Explains Why He Joined Borussia Dortmund
Manchester United are struggling to secure the services of Jadon Sancho but Borussia Dortmund are having no such issues on their own purchasing front.
The Bundesliga giants were able to make yet another young addition to their roster when they acquired Jude Bellingham from Birmingham City. The 17-year-old midfielder has shown exceptional ability which led to quite a bit of interest in him prior to Dortmund sealing the deal.
Prime amongst these were the Red Devils who allegedly tried their best to acquire the teenager, who instead took the choice to join the German outfit.
Speaking at his new club, Bellingham now reveals precisely why he made this move from the Championship side: “I can’t thank Birmingham City enough for what they have done for me – not just this season, but since the age of seven. Of course, I wish everyone associated with the club nothing but the best. Once a blue, always a blue.”
Adding further about his specific reason to join Dortmund, the Englishman states: “However, I’m incredibly excited to have joined one of the biggest clubs in Europe. The direction they are heading in and how much they help young players improve made it an easy decision for me personally and my family.”
This drive for promoting youth players is an aspect that United certainly heralded in the past and under Ole Gunnar Solskjær, it is a feature that seems to be on the return.
However, it is understood that Bellingham was given the impression that he wouldn’t be assured regular first-team football at Old Trafford, whereas at Dortmund the trend has certainly pointed that way.
The Bundesliga club are certainly spoilt for promising youthful prospects now, with the new arrival adding to a roster that already had the performance-proven names of Erling Braut Håland and Jadon Sancho.
