Twitter Reacts To Declan Rice’s Performance Against Man United
West Ham United did an impressive job in holding Man United to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford on Wednesday. The Hammers took the lead early on courtesy of a Paul Pogba handball, as the penalty ensuing was easily buried by Michail Antonio past David De Gea.
The home side replied in the second-half as an impressive spell of play saw Anthony Martial pass the ball to Mason Greenwood who made no error in netting it.
Following that goal, it was West Ham who appeared to have been activated as they barraged on with chance after chance, almost looking to hunt for a win as the full-time whistle drew closer.
With this draw, David Moyes’ side have secured mathematical safety from relegation and will remain in the Premier League for another season.
Fans took special note of the contributions of one man in particular.
Supporters from both sides of the aisle were deeply impressed by Declan Rice’s role during the fixture, lauding him on Twitter.
In fact, a section of Man United fans were even urging their side to acquire the 21-year-old in the upcoming transfer window.
i would take Declan Rice at #mufc any day of the week. so much potential. i hate this perception that EVERY young english player is overhyped. he’s quality. would thrive in any top 6 side in my opinion.

If we leave this stadium without securing the services of Declan Rice then we have failed as a football franchise.

Rice was solid during the game and also had an attempt that nearly went in and caused United much woe in the second-half.
As a central defensive midfielder who can also slot in as a centre-back, Rice shows much potential. Already Chelsea are allegedly in the market for him and Moyes has stated that the Englishman will be the side’s future captain and won’t be sold for cheap.
The Red Devils presently have Nemanja Matic in the holding midfield spot and the Serb has been instrumental to the side’s post-lockdown fortunes.
While Scott McTominay is being viewed as the aging player’s natural successor in the spot, a more defense-oriented player like Rice could do wonders to Old Trafford’s roster dynamics and squad depth.
