Marcus Rashford Was Manchester United’s Best Player In 2019/20
Manchester United’s recently concluded Premier League campaign has certainly baffled many critics. While it was always expected that the club would do well by pure virtue of their stature, at several points early on in their campaign, Ole Gunnar Solskjær appeared to be facing an imminent sack as respite appeared constantly delayed.
An easy analysis can quite obviously show that Bruno Fernandes’ arrival during the winter transfer window was the obvious turning point in the Red Devils’ campaign. The Portuguese midfielder’s goals and assists have been instrumental to their top-four finish.
However, there is another player whose impact has been steady throughout the entire season.
Marcus Rashford may just be an underrated presence in this squad but the sheer statistics show that he has been the club’s best player in the 2019/20 season.
Marcus Rashford among Man Utd players in the 19/20 PL:
most attempted take-ons (122)
most total shots taken (95)
most successful take-ons (60)
most shots on target (44)

Even when United were struggling, it was the Englishman’s constant knack to find the back of the net that kept hope alive. His injury coincided with another low for the club. However, Anthony Martial stepping up to the mantle and assuring things in the offense aided them then.
The academy graduate has had his best scoring season two years in a row and there’s only one way to go from here. That will be big pressure for the English forward and he’ll have to step up the consistency. The attacking presence seemed lacking in him in the last few games and that won’t do if he hopes to become Old Trafford’s go-to maestro.
Further still, if United are able to secure Jadon Sancho, then Mason Greenwood’s goal-scoring prolificacy could mean that it would be either Martial or Rashford who could find their starting spots in threat to the teenager.
