Kai Havertz has been lingering under the radar of Frank Lampard for quite a while now, with Chelsea leading the race to acquire the German’s signature this transfer window.

However, according to the M.E.N, Man Utd might restructure their priority list of transfer targets to move up the Bayer Leverkusen star since their Jadon Sancho transfer talks struck some unforeseen challenges.

Sancho was set to move to his home country this summer upon the completion of United’s transfer, as the English side constantly spread promising hopes for months. But with the Bundesliga club demanding that United pay £108 million for the talisman, it’s understood that the talks have dropped the intensity it previously enjoyed.

Further to the disappointment of the Old Trafford faithful, Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc had asserted earlier this week that they’re planning to keep the youngster for the upcoming season and that the “decision is final”.

It’s at this moment that the Red Devils have displayed hints of shifting their noses to Havertz instead. Accordingly, the Blues could face a potential competition from the Mancunians for the 21-year-old, who is tagged with a fee of £90 million.

It is believed that the talented midfielder will not be sold for any fee below the rated figure, as Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller made it clear by stating that for a player like Havertz, “there is no COVID discount”.

Disregarding the fact that the German starlet is a cheaper alternative to the young Englishman, the likelihood of this transfer happening for the Red Devils is still a bit lower, considering the fact that Lampard enjoys the financial backing of Abramovich this time.

Nevertheless, given the substantial improvement the Mancunians showcased this year, addition of any of the two youngsters could prove to be a massive boost to their offensive lineup.
