Bruno Fernandes’ penalty numbers are insane.

Rivals of Manchester United have a gala time attributing the side’s efforts to the sheer amount of penalties they win. Sure enough, last campaign they were awarded a record number of penalties.

It certainly appeared that they had used up their luck when their first two Premier League games saw them concede a penalty each instead. However, the fact that they were awarded one in their Carabao Cup game as well as in the latest League encounter against Brighton shows that the charm is still on.

The one that secured their 3-2 win at the Amex Stadium was certainly unexpected and Bruno Fernandes was the most capable man to secure the three points despite the drama and the excitement.

In fact, it is by no fluke that they are so good at converting their penalties and it is evidenced by the exceptional record of the man who takes them.

Bruno Fernandes has not missed a penalty in a league game since April of 2016. During this period, the Portuguese midfielder has successfully netted all 17 penalties he had gone ahead to attempt.

Bruno Fernandes has a knack for these spot-kicks and even his techniques are excellent as they make the goalkeepers think a lot about precedent.

In fact, for United alone, he has now successfully netted 9 penalties in all competitions.

This is much-needed consistency for the Red Devils, particularly given the spell of bad luck they appeared to be facing early on last campaign when Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford struggled to convert their attempts.

It will be interesting to see just how much longer he’s able to keep this tally and how many penalties United will be able to win before the season is done and dusted.
