United Interested In Signing Sevilla Defender Jules Kounde
Manchester United have added a Sevilla defender to their shortlist of potential centre-backs to purchase.
The Red Devils have had defensive woes plaguing them when it seemed unlikely. At the middle of the summer transfer window, it was evident that the side would be toothless up-front, having struggled to acquire Jadon Sancho.
However, that right-forward spot hasn’t caused them as much discomfort as the lack of stability at the back. Leaking six goals to Tottenham Hotspur wasn’t the first time that United’s back four struggled this campaign but was certainly a cause for much worry.
As such, it is no surprise that the club is on the lookout for reinforcement in the region.
As per ESPN, Manchester United have added Jules Koundé to their shortlist of targeted defenders for future windows.
The 21-year-old had an impressive debut spell with Sevilla, showing exceptional promise as a centre-back. In fact, that put him on the radar of Man City as well.
However, it is understood that United will now look to pursue him along with several other top names, with a move likely to be made either in January or next summer.
Further, the report adds that the move hinges on whether or not the Mancunian giants manage to offload Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones from their roster.
The two out-of-favour defenders don’t seem likely to cut into the present lot. However, the point of woe is that all three of Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s top options in Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, and Eric Bailly have been disappointing as of late.
Maguire, in particular, has had a consistent run of bad form, even extending it to this display with England during the international break.
However, at the prospective pricetag of over €65 million, it will be interesting to see just how involved Ed Woodward and company will get in the French defender.
