Manchester United have allegedly approached Mauricio Pochettino over the possibility of managing the club.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s season is quickly spiralling out of control. Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat to Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League was the club’s fourth one in nine games including the Premier League. While results like the impressive win over PSG and the 5-0 thumping of RB Leipzig do point to excellence, the paltry displays elsewhere are alarming, to say the least.

United have shown incredible patience with the Norwegian gaffer, especially in the middle of last campaign. However, the warning bells may have begun tolling.

As per MEN, Manchester United have approached the representatives of Mauricio Pochettino over the possibility of appointing him as Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s replacement should the club legend be sacked.

It is understood that while the higher-ups at Old Trafford are reluctant to terminate Solskjær’s stay at the helm, the results may force their hand.

In particular, the Everton game coming up on Sunday is being touted as the crucial fixture that will decide the gaffer’s future. The report speculates that a defeat to the Merseyside club could certainly ensure a sacking and swift appointment given the two-week long international break that is to follow.

The entire turn of events is certainly a surprising one as the Red Devils actually began their difficult run of games in promising fashion. The rout to Arsenal, however, quickly unravelled the flaw and as of recent the side and its tactics have been likened to the direction-less ethos that haunted David Moyes’ months at the Theatre of Dreams.

It will be interesting to see how drastically things pan out and matters won’t be made easy given the excellent form that Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton command at the moment.

Is Solskjær about to manage his final game for Manchester United?
