Serie A Midfielder ‘Very Likely’ To Join Manchester United
Manchester United could see making a serious move for Hakan Calhanoglu soon.
The AC Milan man has been heavily linked with a transfer away and it seems like his next destination could be the Premier League.
Calhanoglu has recorded 4 goals and as many assists in 12 appearances this season. United lack an out-and-out playmaker in the squad right now and the Turkish international’s profile might just fit the requirements they are in search of.
So far, Bruno Fernandes has had to take the burden of playmaking and goalscoring in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s system and such a burden cannot be placed on him for too long, especially when Paul Pogba is out of form. The addition of the former Bayern Leverkusen man might take the weight off the Portuguese’s shoulder, acting as a backup. As for Donny van de Beek, he can continue to challenge for the central midfield position.
And according to reports, a move to Manchester ‘will happen’ for the Turkish midfielder as his agent has entered advanced stages of talks with the Old Trafford outfit.
As per journalist Christian Falk, the midfielder’s representative had held talks with the English giants as early as last summer and current talks are in very advanced stages. As of now, the Turkish international is ‘very, very likely’ to complete a transfer to Solskjaer’s side.
Falk further elucidated that the deadball specialist had rejected a potential move to Juventus during the previous transfer window as he had already chosen Manchester as his next destination next summer.
The 26-year-old’s contract is set to expire next summer, meaning he will be allowed to sign a pre-contract with clubs during the upcoming transfer window and leave for free at the end of the season.
