Leeds United and Man United are reportedly set to battle it out in transfer market for a Serie A defender.

Leeds United will look to get one over their fierce rivals off the field after failing to overcome them in the Premier League in December.

Torino defender Nicolas Nkoulou is the subject of interest from the Whites. It’s understood Marcelo Bielsa is very keen to bring the 30-year-old to Elland Road.

The Argentine tactician has reshaped both Leeds United’s football and their fortunes. After struggling to get back into the Premier League for more than a decade, Leeds are now one of the most entertaining teams to watch in the English top-flight.

However, their defence is still stuck at the Championship level at best, having conceded more goals than they’ve scored. The 6-2 thrashing at Old Trafford must’ve showed Bielsa that there’s still a lot of work to be done.

As per Italian outlet Tuttosport (via M.E.N), the former Lazio manager has identified the Serie A centre-back to strengthen his backline, but will have to compete with the Man United for his signatures.

Torino aren’t doing good defensively in their league either, but the fact Nkoulou is out of contract at the end of the season, makes him an attractive option for the interested clubs, at least financially.
