Rio Ferdinand insists Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe are capable of changing the narrative at Man United.
Kylian Mbappe, a long-term Real Madrid target, is yet to commit to a new contract at Paris Saint-Germain, meaning he could spark a transfer battle amongst Europe’s biggest clubs next summer.
Likewise, Erling Haaland, who’s represented by super agent Mino Raiola, could be on the move if Borussia Dortmund are offered a big-money deal.
However, despite the potential availability of two of the most exciting talents in world football, it’s tough to see any of them plying their trade at Manchester United in the near future.
Club legend Rio Ferdinand, nonetheless, wants the Premier League giants to do everything in their power to bring either Haaland or Mbappe at the Theatre of Dreams.
“If people like Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe are available, you can’t allow them to go somewhere else and you need to move heaven and earth to get them here,” he said on the FIVE YouTube channel.
Ferdinand, who was once the world’s most expensive defender, has also suggested his former club to sign “a commanding centre back with pace”.
Despite all the hurdles, if Man United somehow manage to sign the PSG superstar or the Dortmund talisman, they are unlikely to spend big on a world class defender.
There are several areas that need upgrading at Old Trafford, and Ed Woodward will need to act smart in the transfer market in order to provide the manager with a squad capable of competing with Man City.
