Jadon Sancho’s signing has been a very encouraging start to this summer’s transfer window for Manchester United. The reported £73m deal is subject to contractual terms and a medical, which will be completed after the European Championships.

A day after announcing it has reached agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund, United welcomed goalkeeper Tom Heaton. The former Aston Villa man has joined on a free transfer.

Further, it is understood that the Red Devils are in pursuit of Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane as well.

However, as per Fabrizio Romano, the priority at Old Trafford post the Sancho transfer will be to extend Bruno Fernandes’ contract. The 26-year-old has four years left on his current deal, but the talks for an extension have already been opened.

The Italian journalist further added that updates on the discussions are expected this month.

The high-profile arrivals at the Theatre of Dreams in the coming months will almost certainly impact the wage structure of the club. As such, it’ll be crucial to secure the future of players already at the club before any other major changes.

Moreover on Friday, United confirmed Juan Mata and Lee Grant have agreed to extend their contracts. Both the experienced playmaker and goalkeeper will remain at Carrington until June 2022.
