Varane Reach Pre-Agreement With Man Utd To Sign On Five-Year Contract
Raphael Varane is edging closer to a summer exit from Real Madrid and he reportedly ‘wants’ to join Man Utd.
The Frenchman has entered the last year of his contract and is said to be looking for a new challenge abroad. According to one of Spain’s biggest newspaper ABC (via Sports Witness), Varane’s desire is to sign for United.
The Red Devils are said to be at the top of the centre-back preferences. If the reports were to be believed, the two parties have already reached a pre-agreement for a five-year deal.
The France international is reportedly upset with Madrid as they refused to offer him a contract as hefty as new signing David Alaba was offered, and the English giants have offered exactly that.
Should the defender sign, he will earn around €12 million a year at Old Trafford.
Despite not having any silverware to show for in recent times, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are managing to pull the attention of very big names. To have a player of such stature wanting to play for the club bad enough to agree to terms so early on is a positive sign of significant growth.
However, the World Champion wants the deal to be concluded within two weeks as he wants negotiations wrapped up before Los Blancos start their pre-season programs.
This makes things a little difficult for the Premier League side as they are yet to see eye-to-eye with the Madrid outfit’s valuation of the former Lens star. The former is said to be offering around €45 million for the 28-year-old while the La Liga giants are demanding a minimum of €55 million.
After spending big on Jadon Sancho, the Old Trafford outfit will likely be careful with their money. But at the same time, if negotiations take too long, their target might look for options elsewhere by the looks of it.
