Raphael Varane ‘To Become Manchester United Player This Week’
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer refused to give too much away on Varane, but it’s being reported that the Frenchman will become a Manchester United player this week.
The Norwegian was quizzed about both Jadon Sancho and Varane after United’s first pre-season friendly, which saw the Red Devils register a 2-1 win over Derby County. Solskjaer opted to keep his thoughts with himself on both the players.
“I will talk about players when we sign them, not while they’re at another club,” the Norwegian said.
However, Marca journalist Carlo Carpio (via SportWitness) didn’t mince his words while reporting on the Real Madrid centre-back’s future. He believes Varane is ‘set to become a Manchester United player this week’.
Considering the 28-year-old centre-back is scheduled to return to Real Madrid’s pre-season training on Wednesday, and allegedly prefers to head straight to Manchester from his holiday, it is not far fetched to assume that a conclusion on his transfer away from the Santiago Bernabeu could be reached this week.
Personal terms are not being viewed as a hurdle in this transfer saga, and all that remains now is an agreement over a fee with Los Blancos.
The United boss started the centre-back pairing of Axel Tuanzebe and Teden Mengi against Derby, but would certainly relish having both Harry Maguire and Varane available for the Premier League opener against Leeds United.
