Raphael Varane might not be available for Manchester United’s friendly against Everton.

The Red Devils have already officially confirmed that a deal in principle has been reached with Real Madrid for the transfer of the Frenchman. Varane desired to play for United despite interest from various European giants.

The former Lens star had already bid farewell to his Real teammates on Friday and looked set to complete his move in the next few days.

However, the Old Trafford crowd will have to wait a little longer to see the defender in action as his arrival in England has been delayed. The French international is yet to receive his visa in order to travel to England and complete his move, as per the Telegraph.

The centre-back was supposed to fly to Manchester earlier this week but the delay in his visa approval ultimately put a hold on that plan. As of now, he is waiting for his travel permit before he can officially go under quarantine in England and complete his medical.

Meanwhile, Everton play Manchester in less than a week – leaving too little time for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to debut his new centre-back partnership.

United supporters will likely have to wait till Leeds United visit Old Trafford on opening day before seeing their new signing in action. Although, even that could be a doubt as he would barely have time to reach match-fitness following his quarantine.

Solskjaer will have to make do with the same defenders he had at his disposal last season during what is left of the Mancunians’ pre-season.

The 28-year-old looks likely to head straight into a challenging fixture as his introduction to English football. But with Harry Maguire next to him, it might not prove to be too challenging for the World Cup winner.
