Raphael Varane And Rio Ferdinand’s Meeting At Old Trafford Was Absolutely Beautiful
Raphael Varane’s presentation at Old Trafford got a bigger cheer from the fans than any goal in the afternoon.
Manchester United formally announced the signing of Varane on a four-year deal, three weeks after they agreed a transfer fee with Real Madrid. His arrival was delayed due to various reasons, resulting in a failure to register the Frenchman in time for the Premier League opener against Leeds United.
Nevertheless, the Red Devils compensated all of the fans’ frustration by welcoming their new arrival in front of the first full-house at Old Trafford in 17 months. Proper old-school way!
To add to an eventful day at the Theatre of Dreams, Varane also probably fulfilled his dream of meeting his idol when growing up: Rio Ferdinand.
Ferdinand was pitchside reporting for BT Sport and got the chance to exchange a few words with a centre-back he has praised on a regular basis during his time with Real and perhaps wanted at United as well.

Varane must’ve appreciated the reception he received from the Old Trafford crowd, and also enjoyed the show his new teammates put up against Leeds.
The 28-year-old will now hope to step out on the home pitch in a Red shirt rather than a suit as soon as possible.
