Manchester United Confident To Sign Cristiano Ronaldo, Man City Out
Manchester United are now favourites to sign Cristiano Ronaldo after Manchester City pulled out of the deal.
The Portuguese international’s future had been up in the air for the past week and right now it is all but confirmed that he will depart Juventus this summer. Massimiliano Allegri confirmed earlier today that Ronaldo had expressed his desire to leave.
In fact, the former Red Devil has already boarded a private jet from Turin with representative Jorge Mendes. The Portuguese was expected to make a decision during the next couple of hours regarding the offers on his table as United joined the competition with City for his signature yesterday.
However, Pep Guardiola’s side have decided to pull out during what seems like the decisive hours. The former Real Madrid man had not agreed on personal terms nor had the Sky Blues agreed on a fee for him with Juve nonetheless.
The Red Devils are now reportedly preparing a contract for their legend following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer publicly expressing his desire to welcome his former teammate back at Old Trafford. As per Fabrizio Romano, the Mancunians are now confident of securing the Ballon d’Or winner’s services.
There were reports speculating Paul Pogba moving the other way, but that does not seem to be the case.
Meanwhile, the 36-year-old is said to be open to a transfer back to United and is in discussion for a deal until the summer of 2023.
The return of the world-class forward will be one of the biggest transfers of the summer if Solskajer’s side manage to pull it off. The situation is expected to develop significantly – one way or the other – in the coming hours.
