Manchester United looked a completed side with Cristiano Ronaldo a part of their roster. The Red Devils ran victorious with a 4-1 scoreline against Newcastle United on Saturday. The Portuguese star was pivotal in the win, netting twice in either half to stamp a feat of dominance.
The creative ethos was clearly infectious as Bruno Fernandes and Jesse Lingard likewise scored picturesque goals to wrap it all up for the Red Devils.
Now, there is certainly a belief that the return of Ronaldo has stamped the precise winning mentality that Fernandes made staple over the course of the last two seasons onto the whole roster.
In fact, the team player ethos could be seen in great detail as reports emerged of precisely what the start was up to before the game.
Ronaldo gave his teammates a speech prior to the game at the team hotel. Solskjaer explained the incident, stating to MUTV: “Ronaldo did a speech to the boys last night. It’s just perfect for him, you see what he’s about, sensing the movement, smelling the danger. But he’s also evolved into a proper team player.”
Ronaldo was himself quizzed about his pre-match antics as he delivered a post-game interview amidst chants and jubilant singing of his name at the Theatre of Dreams.
In his reply, the 36-year-old explained certain initiation rites, like making Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane sing. He himself did not sing, stating in his defense that he had done so 18 years prior.
Further, the former Juventus and Real Madrid man also emphasized how he gave “little speeches” to his teammates prior to the game.
Fans will now be hoping that the same attitude remains for the rest of Ronaldo’s stay at the club and will lead the side to break their drought of a Premier League title.
