United vs Aston Villa: How Axel Tuanzebe Has Fared So Far On His Loan
Axel Tuanzebe will return to Old Trafford on Saturday as Aston Villa face Manchester United.
The Englishman is currently on loan at Villa, meaning he will have to sit out the game this weekend as Premier League regulations do not allow a loanee to play against their parent club. Quite a shame considering how well Tuanzebe has performed so far into his loan spell.
With 6 appearances across all competitions, the youngster looks set to take a lion’s share of game time over the course of his loan. The defender started 3 league matches so far and kept a cleansheet in his only win out of the three against Everton.
However, despite Aston Villa struggling for consistency, fans are very impressed with the United man’s performances. His outing against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup earlier this week is a perfect example of why he is already a fan-favourite at Villa Park.
Dean Smith’s side pushed the European champions to penalties where they eventually lost the battle. But the centre-back’s valiant performance stood out despite the loss.
Aston Villa have a great squad and environment for the young centre-back’s development. But United also recognise his potential, which is exactly why his contract was extended before sending him out on loan.
Judging by his displays so far, the 23-year-old could turn out to be a solid option for the Red Devils in the near future. His stature, pace and maturity at this age look to be promising and it could be something the Old Trafford outfit might want to rely on at some point.
And if early signs are something to go by, Villa fans will certainly be disappointed that the club cannot permanently sign their new starlet at the end of his loan spell.
