Manchester United are reportedly going to incredible lengths in their bid to convince Paul Pogba to sign a new contract.

The Frenchman’s current contract, signed when he returned to United in a record deal from Juventus in 2016, will run out in the summer. Pogba is free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs from this month.

The likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, and his former club Juventus are all interested in signing him for nothing at the end of the season.

Pogba is yet to decide on his future, and the Red Devils have not given up in their attempts to extend his stay at Old Trafford either.

According to The Sun, the Premier League giants have offered Pogba a new deal worth £500,000-per-week with add-ons.

This new contract would eclipse Cristiano Ronaldo’s basic wage at United, making the France international the highest earner in the Premier League.

The arrival of Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, and Jadon Sancho significantly increased United’s wage bill. As such, it’s better to let the 28-year-old leave on a free transfer, and instead look for more affordable and reliable midfield options.

As per David Ornstein, United are keen on Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni. The 21-year-old has already partnered Pogba in midfield for France and could prove to be a capable replacement at Old Trafford.
