Man United Will Look To Sign Argentine Forward If Cavani And Martial Leave
Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial’s departures could see Man United target Mauro Icardi.
The Argentine forward has been linked with a move away from Paris Saint-Germain ever since Lionel Messi’s arrival. The former Barcelona icon leads the attack alongside Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, limiting Icardi’s game time this season.
At Old Trafford, Anthony Martial wants to leave the Premier League giants for the same reason, as he fell down the pecking order following Cristiano Ronaldo’s return.
Edinson Cavani is another United forward open to leave the club in January. However, interim manager Ralf Rangnick has insisted the veteran striker won’t be allowed to switch clubs in the January transfer window.
In case the Uruguayan manages to move away along with Martial, Icardi is being considered as a potential replacement for the duo, reports French outlet L’Equipe. Juventus are also linked with the former Inter captain amid Barcelona’s interest in Alvaro Morata.
Nevertheless, United’s priority in this window should be to bring in a defensive midfielder for Rangnick.
Even if both Martial and Cavani leave, the Red Devils have enough options in attack. Additionally, such exits will only lead to increased first team opportunities for the likes of Anthony Elanga and Amad Diallo.
