Ajax players are delighted for their manager Erik ten Hag following his announcement as Manchester United’s new manager. And one player has even jokingly asked the Dutch tactician to take him to Old Trafford.

United’s announcement before the conclusion of Ajax’s campaign has not affected the focus of the Eredivisie leaders, who registered a 1-0 win over NEC on Saturday, courtesy of Brian Brobbey’s late goal.

Speaking about Ten Hag’s appointment as the United manager, the match-winner said: “I am very happy for him and he really deserves it after everything he has done for Ajax. If only he brings me with him in two years. No, no… joking!”

The young forward, currently on loan at Ajax from RB Leipzig, quickly insisted he was only joking.

But Brobbey has been an important player for Ten Hag this season and if he maintains his scoring form and develops well, he might attract United’s interest in a year or two. He is represented by Paul Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola.

However, United will be in the market this summer for a new attacker, and Ajax winger Antony’s name has been linked with the club.

The Brazilian is highly-rated by Ten Hag and unlike Brobbey, he seems ready for the Premier League. In his seven Champions League appearances this season, the 22-year-old was directly involved in six goals.
