Erik ten Hag’s past with Andreas Pereira might help the Brazilian revive his career at Man Utd.

Pereira, after failing to establish himself at Old Trafford under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, moved to his native Brazil last summer.

Following a bright start to his loan spell at Flamengo, he convinced the club to turn his transfer into a permanent one.

However, ESPN reported earlier this month that United are set to miss out on a £12 million transfer fee, with the Brazilian outfit preparing to ‘abandon a deal’ to sign the midfielder.

Pereira yet again finds his future unclear, but Ten Hag’s arrival has given him a little glimmer of hope of returning to United next season.

The Belgium-born player and Ten Hag spent time together at PSV Eindhoven before he moved to the English club’s academy.

According to ESPN, he has already been informed by football director John Murtough that if his permanent transfer to Flamenga falls through, the incoming United manager is keen to have the Brazil international back at the club in the summer.

Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic are set to depart at the end of the season, leaving United very light in the midfield department. But the Premier League giants have to address multiple positions in the transfer market and are unlikely to sign more than one midfielder.

As such, Pereira could be part of the project under Ten Hag. The 26-year-old has a year left on his contract at the club.
