Ten Hag Has Decided His First Man United Signing – £20m Offer Will Be Enough
Erik ten Hag has identified the full-back positions as a problem area at Manchester United, and has already picked out the player he wants to sign to fix the issue.
Tyrell Malacia could be Ten Hag’s first signing at United. According to the Mirror, the incoming manager wants the Feyenoord left-back to challenge Luke Shaw for his place in United’s team.
Alex Telles has had a mare of a season, failing to bring much to the table in Shaw’s absence through injury. United are open to selling the Brazilian.
Malacia, described as a “pitbull” in Holland, is comfortable on the ball, while his pace and willingness to make tackles makes him a top asset out of possession as well. In fact, it is reported that Ten Hag tried to sign the 22-year-old for the Amsterdam club last summer, but the huge rivalry between Ajax and Feyenoord thwarted any possibility of the switch.
Ten Hag will find it much easier to lure the Dutch international to Old Trafford, and a £20million offer will be enough to convince Feyenoord to sell their academy graduate due to two financially tough years.
Malacia was also watched by representatives of United during his brilliant performance in Feyenoord’s 3-2 win over Marseille in the first leg of the Europa League Conference semi-final.
