Marcus Rashford might revive his career at Manchester United in a different role under Erik ten Hag.

The United academy graduate was one of the first names on the team sheet under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He ended the 2020/21 season with 36 goals involvement across all competitions. However, he has looked a shadow of himself following his return from injury.

Rashford’s situation got worse after Solskjaer’s sacking, as interim manager Ralf Rangnick didn’t place the same level of trust in him.

Towards the end of the recently concluded campaign, the Englishman lost his place in the starting XI to Anthony Elanga. As a result, he was also left out of Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad.

However, the arrival of a new manager provides Rashford an opportunity to make a fresh start. In fact, he could find himself playing in a different position under Ten Hag.

United are interested in signing a new forward this summer, and have been heavily linked with Benfica talisman Darwin Nunez.

However, as per the M.EN, if they fail to bring in a new goalscorer, Rashford might be trialled as a centre-forward during pre-season.

Rashford, who flourished in a wide forward role under Solskjaer, has not received any direct clarity on his position, but he’s hopeful of impressing Ten Hag.
