Manchester United remain keen on securing Frenkie de Jong’s services from Barcelona, but are also mulling over a move for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The England midfielder is desperate to depart Liverpool as he finds himself on the fringes of Jurgen Klopp’s team.

He could be sold to fund moves for new arrivals, with the Reds preparing to sign Darwin Nunez from Benfica in a deal which would see the Uruguayan striker become their record signing.

United are also interested in Nunez and have been in touch with his representatives, but are unlikely to blow the majority of their budget on a cover for Cristiano Ronaldo. Erik ten Hag’s priority is to strengthen his midfield.

As per talkSPORT, the Red Devils are contemplating a surprise move for Oxlade-Chamberlain. It is claimed that United would be ‘seriously interested’ in the Englishman if Liverpool are willing to accept a knockdown fee of £10m.

The former Arsenal man has experience of playing Klopp’s Gegenpressing style. As such, he could be a smart option for Ten Hag to consider if the Dutchman desires to implement high pressing football.

Meanwhile, the Premier League outfit continue to pursue De Jong, and are making efforts to persuade the Barcelona midfielder to move to Old Trafford.
