Man United Hold Talks To Sign £55m Striker – Ten Hag Wants A New Forward
Erik ten Hag has asked for attacking reinforcements amid uncertainty over Cristiano Ronaldo’s future.
Ronaldo and his agent, Jorge Mendes, met with Manchester United officials to reiterate his intention to depart Old Trafford for Champions League football.
The Portuguese has remained unavailable for all of the club’s pre-season fixtures to date, and is not expected to be part of the squad that flies to Oslo to play Atletico Madrid.
His representatives are exploring a number of options to ensure the 37-year-old is involved in Europe’s elite competition next season. However, United’s next opponent, have distanced themselves from any potential move for the Real Madrid legend.
Meanwhile, Ten Hag has demanded a new forward signing in order to have a successful maiden campaign in England. The Ronaldo situation has further increased the Dutchman’s need for a reliable option upfront.
As per the Telegraph, the Red Devils have held talks with representatives of Benjamin Sesko. The RB Leipzig striker has attracted interest from across Europe by scoring 11 goals in 37 appearances for the Austrian outfit last season.
Salzburg are understood to be asking at least €65 million (£55m) to consider Sesko’s exit. But the Premier League giants have no desire to come closer to the said figure.
Further, United’s interest in Antony has cooled down due to the €100m price set by Ajax, who reluctantly sold Lisandro Martinez to the English side.
