Manchester United Have An Agreement In Place With Frenkie de Jong’s Agent
Manchester United are not giving up on signing Frenkie de Jong, despite Chelsea’s interest in the Barcelona star.
United were in the driving seat for De Jong all summer, having already agreed a transfer fee with Barca for the Netherlands international.
However, Chelsea are now prepared to make a bid for the 25-year-old, and are confident of luring him to Stamford Bridge by offering him Champions League football.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils’ confidence stems from Erik ten Hag’s history with the former Ajax midfielder. The United boss wants to make De Jong a pivotal part of his project at Old Trafford and believes he can get the best out of the Dutch midfielder’s ability by deploying him in a deeper position. At Barcelona, the role is occupied by Sergio Busquets.
As per Marcel van der Kraan, the player is an absolute priority for Ten Hag and United have a deal with his agent.

Frenkie de Jong arriving at Barcelona's training complex to screams of "lower your wages, bitch!" from the fans.

But the situation depends on the outcome of the stand-off between De Jong and Barcelona over his deferred wages.
The Spanish outfit, who are struggling to register their new signings ahead of their LaLiga opener against Rayo Vallecano, want the Dutchman to either lower his salary or leave without the wages he is owed. As things stand, De Jong is reluctant to accept any of the two conditions.
