Ten Hag Agrees To Let Manchester United Midfielder Leave This Summer
Manchester United’s midfield weaknesses were expertly exploited by Brighton and Hove Albion in their Premier League opener win at Old Trafford.
The Fred and Scott McTominay pivot was no match to Moises Caicedo’s physicality and technical ability in possession. The ‘McFred’ duo’s display yet again underlined the immediate need of midfield reinforcements.
However, as it stands, United are losing the race for Frenkie de Jong, who’s more inclined to stay at Barcelona or move to Champions League side Chelsea. If anything, the Red Devils are set to weaken further in the middle of the park, but for a good reason.
Erik ten Hag has agreed to send Hannibal Mejbri out on loan this summer, the Manchester Evening News have claimed.
The creative midfielder is highly-rated at Carrington, and his aggressive style of play was appreciated by the United faithful during his cameo against Liverpool at Anfield.
But the presence of Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek is going to limit Hannibal’s game-time under Ten Hag. He featured three times during the pre-season tour, but didn’t start a single one of those games.
United see a temporary spell away from Old Trafford as the best solution to ensure the 19-year-old’s development isn’t hindered.
