Ajax Star Confirms He Wants To Join Manchester United – Ten Hag Tried To Sign Him
Erik ten Hag’s decision to look at Amsterdam to strengthen his rebuild wasn’t appreciated very much by the Ajax faithful, but the former manager has received encouragement from the club’s forward to make another move.
Ten Hag built a solid squad at Ajax and had several players who knew how to translate his ideas on the pitch, to a tee. As such, his transfer raid at the Johan Cruyff Arena was understandable, considering how far apart United were to the Dutch giants both stylistically and quality wise.
The Dutchman’s idea was to bring in players to Carrington who could help him swiftly implement his tactics. United were successful in signing Lisandro Martinez and Antony, but there were some players who weren’t as keen to reunite with Ten Hag in the summer.
Brian Brobbey spent a season on loan in the Netherlands under Ten Hag. The 20-year-old played an important role in clinching the 2021/22 Eredivisie title. Ajax were determined to re-sign him on a permanent basis from RB Leipzig, but faced late competition from United.
The Premier League outfit approached Brobbey, but the young striker decided to return to Ajax. However, United remain an attractive destination for Brobbey, who confirmed his desire to play for the English club in the future.
When asked where he wanted to play one day by ESPN, the Dutchman replied, “Manchester United.”
The Ajax star has had a prolific start to the season, scoring twice and assisting twice in his first five league appearances.
