Cristiano Ronaldo’s interview with Piers Morgan hasn’t gone down well with the Manchester United hierarchy as well as several fans.

On Sunday, the Red Devils beat Fulham with a late Alejandro Garnacho goal. As the players prepared to fly back from London, word reached the club, via Ronaldo’s camp, that he had given a controversial interview.

As per the Telegraph, the Premier League giants are deeply disappointed by the player’s attack on the manager and the club, as he claimed he has no respect for Erik ten Hag.

The United dressing room has seen their win overshadowed by Ronaldo’s actions for the second time in less than a month. There remains a huge respect for what Ronaldo has achieved but several players are disappointed with his behaviour in recent weeks.

In the midst of this, some players are also reuniting with their international teammates for the World Cup.

Fernandes, who was involved in United’s win over Fulham, has also joined the Portugal camp this week. And his reaction to meeting Ronaldo has raised a few eyebrows, as he appears to give Ronaldo an icy reception.

Some United fans are delighted with the not-so-warm meeting between Ronaldo and their stand-in captain, but it’s better to not read too much into it. However, considering the passion Fernandes shows on and off the pitch for United, he’s unlikely to be happy with the situation.

It is understood that there will “not be a tear shed” by some players at Carrington if and when their most experienced player does leave.
