Former Manchester United Manager Wants To Sign Anthony Martial
David Moyes is eyeing a transfer raid on his former club, Manchester United.
The West Ham manager, who once again left Old Trafford empty-handed courtesy of late goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Fred in the FA Cup, is understood to be interested in rejuvenating his squad with the help of his former club.
According to Football Insider (via the Manchester Evening News), West Ham are interested in signing Anthony Martial.
Gianluca Scamacca’s big-money arrival last summer hasn’t changed the Hammers’ fortunes in the final third.
A player like Martial, who’s very good at link-up play, could help Moyes get the best out of Said Benrahma – the visitors’ only scorer at United on Wednesday – and Lucas Paqueta, who has previously shown an eye for a goal when given freedom to move higher up the field.
Martial isn’t the only player that Moyes wants. The report adds that the London-based club are also monitoring Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay.
The duo, who enjoyed regular minutes under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, have warmed the bench for large parts of this season. Although both started against West Ham in United’s 3-1 win.
The England defender was impressive on the night and was praised by Erik ten Hag for taking initiative in and out of possession. But McTominay was hooked off at half time for Casemiro.
United have fared well without the trio featuring on a regular basis. As such, they are likely to listen to offers for them at the end of the season.
