Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich is likely to spark another rebuild in the French capital.

The Ligue 1 leaders have spent heavily in recent windows to bring Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar together. But the attacking trio failed to deliver at the big stage; PSG bowed out of the round of 16 stage for the second consecutive season.

Now it’s being suggested that the French outfit are preparing to spend big to strengthen their defence.

According to The Sun, PSG are interested in signing Harry Maguire from Manchester United in a £50m deal.

The England international had a brilliant World Cup in winter, but at Old Trafford, he has struggled for minutes all season. It is reported that a deal ‘was on the table’ for United in the January transfer window but things couldn’t materialise because time ran out.

The United captain stayed and lifted the League Cup trophy with Bruno Fernandes in February. However, his playing situation has remained unchanged.

In United’s last nine Premier League games, Maguire has started just once. Against Southampton over the weekend, he came off the bench in stoppage time to replace Lisandro Martinez.

Considering Sergio Ramos’ age, a new centre-back should be PSG’s priority in the summer, and Maguire, who has just over two years left on his United contract, could certainly prove to be a smart buy. Christophe Galtier’s side have also been heavily linked with Milan Skriniar.
