Manchester United are considering offering a new contract to the player who’s yet to start a Premier League game for them this season.

Facundo Pellistri has divided opinions with his cameo appearances post the World Cup break. Before the start of the winter tournament, the Uruguayan was expected to leave the club in January after not managing a single minute under Erik ten Hag.

In fact, the 21-year-old, who moved to Manchester from Uruguayan club Penarol in 2020, had to wait more than two years for his debut, which came against Charlton in the League Cup in January.

Ever since then, he has been handed multiple appearances by Ten Hag, who also introduced him against Southampton at Old Trafford over the weekend, as the home side searched for a breakthrough goal.

Considering Pellistri’s impressive performances and Antony’s struggles, it won’t surprise many if the winger – who has spent a large part of his United career either on the bench or on loan away in Spain – ends up getting a start or two in next few games.

Further, United are considering a new ‘contract proposal to’ Pellistri. As per Fabrizio Romano, concrete talks between the club and the player will take place in April.

United have plenty of attacking options, so even if Pellistri signs a new deal, the best thing for his development would be another loan spell.

Amad Diallo, who’s enjoying a brilliant loan stint at Sunderland, is another talent showing signs of being ready to challenge for the right-flank position.
