Man United plan to sell four players – talks with one replacement held
Man United are heading into the early stages of their summer transfer business amid uncertainty over the club’s future.
A number of bidders, including Sir Jim Ratcliffe, have been reported to be keen on buying Manchester United, with the Glazers family receiving multiple offers for full ownership as well as a partial stake.
Earlier this week, ESPN claimed Joel and Avram Glazer are ‘increasingly confident of securing the outside investment’ that will enable them to remain in charge of the Premier League’s most successful club.
Despite question marks hanging over, John Murtough, United’s Director of Football, is making plans for the next season.
Man United plan to sell four players and have held talks for Frimpong
The Red Devils have ‘provisionally planned’ for Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly, Alex Telles and Brandon Williams to be sold, as per the Manchester Evening News.
Bailly, currently on loan at Marseille, will return to United in the summer, with the Ligue 1 club not willing to trigger the buy option to sign him permanently, Fabrizio Romano have reported. The Ivorian centre-back, however, remains on the list of players United will listen to offers for.
Maguire, despite his recent impressive showings, could be the most high-profile departure at Old Trafford this summer. United are expected to look for a new centre-back if Maguire or Victor Lindelof leave.
Telles, who was an unused substitute for Sevilla against his parent club in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals, hasn’t enjoyed the best of loan spells in La Liga and is likely to find himself elsewhere next season.
United could sell up to three full-backs in the summer transfer window. As such, Ten Hag is targeting Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong. The English side have held talks with the representatives of the Dutch right-back, who’s liked by the former Ajax boss.
