Harry Kane is ready to run down his contract in North London should Tottenham Hotspur fail to find an agreement with Manchester United for his transfer.

The Spurs skipper is on the top of Erik ten Hag’s wish list, with the United boss prioritising improving his goal-scoring options after securing a third place finish in the Premier League.

Six teams scored more goals than the Red Devils in the 2022-23 league season, including Tottenham. Kane contributed to 30 of his side’s 63 goals.

Kane wants Manchester United move but Spurs are reluctant to sell

Tottenham chief Daniel Levy is thought to be more open to selling his prized asset to a foreign club. Bayern Munich, who signed Sadio Mane from Liverpool last summer, admire Kane.

However, The Sun claims that the 29-year-old striker has no desire of going abroad while he’s less than 50 goals away from breaking Alan Shearer’s record of the most Premier League goals (260).

Kane has set his sights on Old Trafford, as United are his only viable option in the country. The Spurs legend isn’t keen on moving to London rivals Chelsea or Arsenal. Meanwhile, Manchester City and Liverpool are focused on addressing other areas, having signed Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez respectively last summer.

If United don’t manage to convince Levy to sell Kane this summer, the England forward is willing to run down his deal and leave the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract in 2024.

Meanwhile, United are operating under the impression they won’t get Kane in this transfer window. As per the Manchester Evening News, Atalanta sensation Rasmus Hojlund is viewed as an attainable target by Ten Hag, who has held several video calls with the talented number nine.
