David De Ge’s time at Manchester United was certainly one that fans will find difficult to forget. There were entire seasons where if not for the heroics of the Spaniard, there was a good chance that United would have been deeply struggling near the 8th or 9th position in the Premier League table.
This is what made the shot-stopper’s exit from the club earlier this summer all the more bittersweet for supporters. However, few will disagree that the wage bill and the high-profile gaffes made by him of recent do not really paint a favourable picture of his case to stay on. Thus, the arrival of Andre Onana injected fresh excitement into the fanbase.
For all of his heroics, De Gea was never a modern goalkeeper and deeply struggled when it came to playing from the back, let alone contributing to the attack in front of him. However, what is interesting amongst all this is that the Spaniard did not find a new club immediately upon his release. Well, that is about to change.
De Gea to finally swap Manchester United for Real Madrid?
As per talkSPORT, Real Madrid will likely be De Gea’s next club as the La Liga giants and the former United player are in advanced talks over a deal this summer.
It is understood that Los Blancos have been forced to look into the transfer window after their main keeper Thibaut Courtois picked up an unfortunate and long ACL injury in training.

As such, supporters could now see a deal that nearly came to fruition in 2015 now become a reality. Back then, it was understood that a faulty fax machine spelt the breakdown of an all but certain move for De Gea from United to Madrid on deadline day.
It will be interesting to see just what the 32-year-old could bring to Madrid in this day and age.
