Earlier on Thursday, Fabrizio Romano reported that Fenerbahçe made a proposal worth €15m, including add-ons, to sign the Brazilian midfielder from Manchester United.

The transfer expert has now confirmed that their bid has been accepted by the Red Devils and verbal agreement has been reached between the two clubs over Fred’s transfer. The 30-year-old has also agreed personal terms with the Turkish outfit and is set to travel for further formalities.

He had been made available for sale since the start of the summer window, as Erik ten Hag got his hands on Chelsea man Mason Mount. The Englishman is as aggressive as Fred out of possession and more creative and decisive with the ball at his feet.

Manchester United accept Fenerbahçe’s proposal for Fred

Still, plenty of clubs, including Premier League side Fulham, were interested in signing Fred. It appears Fenerbahçe have won the race despite a late move from league rivals Galatasaray.

United, meanwhile, should be delighted with the reported fee of €15m for a midfielder who was surplus to requirement at Old Trafford and entered the final year of his deal at the club.

However, there’s no doubt that the Old Trafford crowd would miss Fred’s enthusiasm and tendency to give his all. The Brazil international joined United in 2018 under Jose Mourinho and established himself as a crucial part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s McFred midfield before showing his goal-scoring prowess under Ralf Rangnick and Ten Hag. Last term, Fred was directly involved in an impressive 12 goals in all competitions.

The club’s hierarchy is also working on securing deals for Harry Maguire and Donny van de Beek. The former is appreciated at West Ham and the latter is attracting interest from Real Sociedad.
