When Manchester United finished their opening week fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers, a lot of things were up for debate. The side lacked decisiveness in the final third and if not for a likely VAR error, would not have been able to take all three points safe and sound.
Apart from that, all the media hype after the game has focused on the sole goal in the 1-0 victory, that of Raphael Varane’s spirited attempt. There is no denying the sheer brilliance of the goal scored which was arguably dwarfed in comparison by Varane’s passionate celebration after the act.
However, it now appears that an interesting group of people have definitely taken note of Varane’s presence.
Varane contacted by Al Ittihad
Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad made contact with Raphael Varane’s agent over a shift this transfer window, as per reports.
Further, the cash-rice side’s new signings Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante are trying to convince their compatriot to move to Saudi. Varane enjoyed a trophy laden spell with Benzema at Real Madrid and lifted the World Cup trophy in 2018 with Kante.
However, it is being indicated quite assertively that as things stand the 30-year-old has no intention of making the transfer just yet, with more European football on his immediate radar. He has a contract at Old Trafford until 2025.
Such a choice seems obvious given the passion with which he celebrated last week and how despite being a World Cup winner and a European champion with Real, every tiny achievement with United is truly relished by the defender.
