Another Sancho? Manchester United star training away from first team

Manchester United’s recent parting from Jadon Sancho, albeit on a loan basis, marks the momentary end of a messy player-manager breakdown.

The promising English forward had a very public spat with Erik ten Hag regarding the comments the gaffer had made on the player’s training discipline. This led to Sancho being cut away from the first team and a refusal to apologize culminated in a return to Borussia Dortmund.

With this, Ten Hag has made it amply clear that be it Cristiano Ronaldo or Sancho, there are some things he will simply not tolerate. Now, eagle-eyed spotters are worried that another player may be receiving identical treatment.

Anthony Martial not training with Manchester United first-team

As per the Daily Mail, Anthony Martial has been training alone ever since he was out due to sickness last month. The French forward has been away from the first team in what is being reported as standard protocol for a player who has not achieved match fitness and therefore cannot be expected to keep up the rigour of first-team training.

But the similarity to the Sancho treatment has some people worried.

Martial is clearly exit-bound as the club has thus far not made any moves towards renewing his bumper deal which ends at the end of the season. While a summer departure seems likely, there hasn’t been any indication of a January offloading either.

This can be understood given the thin line of attacking options that Ten Hag has at his disposal and perhaps those sources who believe that the Dutchman does want the former Monaco starlet back at Carrington and fighting for a spot for his remaining months at the club, do have something up their sleeves after all.
