Manchester United’s manager list after Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement is quite something. Given David Moyes’ recent success, it is not unfair to say that a plethora of talented gaffers have tried their hand at steering the behemoth that is United.

While the likes of Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho arrived at the club as seasoned giants in their own respect, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign, while amateurish at times, was certainly a spirited affair.

In that regard, the fact that Solskjaer is still out of a managerial job continues to surprise many. However, another gaffer who tried his trade at Old Trafford may now find himself at the receiving end of another big assignment.

Former Manchester United manager preferred by Barcelona?

According to The Sun, Ralf Rangnick is touted to become the next manager at Barcelona. The Catalan giants will be without a manager at the end of the season after Xavi confirmed his departure. As such, the La Liga giants are believed to be actively looking for a seasoned name and many possibilities are doing the rounds.

However, the Austrian national team manager who had a brief spell at Manchester United is believed to be one of the names for the job.

Rangnick’s time at United was a mostly uneventful affair. His “professorial” ethos to tactics did not really kick-off at the club and it can be argued that his greatest contribution to the side was in pointing out the institutional flaws in the way the club was being run. Supporters even today hope that the SJR investment works on changing some of the things the veteran boss pointed out.

At Barca, it is understood that Rangnick is on the wishlist of some of the top brass of the club. If he gets the job it will be interesting to see how his luck changes.
