Thomas Tuchel interested in Manchester United job after Bayern exit
Thomas Tuchel is still at the helm at Bayern Munich, as the Bavarians trail Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen by eight points. They are also a goal behind Lazio heading into the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16.
Regardless of where the Tuchel-led ship stops, he’s not going to lead the club from the dugout next season.
Bayern have announced the two parties have decided to walk their separate ways following the conclusion of the ongoing campaign. However, it seems Tuchel has already mapped out the next step in his career.
Thomas Tuchel eyes Manchester United job
A report from The Sun claims Tuchel is desperate to return to the Premier League, having already proved his mettle as Chelsea manager by winning the Champions League in 2021.
The English outlet adds that United and Newcastle could both be in the market for a new manager soon.
It’s thought the German would be interested should the aforementioned clubs knock on his door.
However, as things stand at Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag’s position is safe. United’s incoming co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been making big strides with regard to reshaping the club’s football structure, but he’s in no hurry to address Ten Hag’s situation.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer open to joining Bayern Munich on an interim basis
Meanwhile, former United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has surprisingly found his name linked with Bayern.
As announced, the plan in Munich is to continue with Tuchel until the end of the season. However, should things change and the Bayern gaffer departs prematurely, Solskjaer could end up managing the German giants.
As per Florian Plettenberg, the Norwegian would be ready to join the side as an interim coach for the remainder of the fixtures. It is added that Bayern are monitoring Solskjaer, who has been out of work since his sacking as manager of United.
