Anthony Martial has confirmed he is set to look for a new chapter after nine “incredible” years at Manchester United.

Man Utd fans are still in celebration mood, thanks to their remarkable win over Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley, as goals from Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho helped the side seal their thirteenth FA Cup trophy.

The FA Cup final was no exception, as Erik ten Hag has had to depend on his young stars all season to grind out results, with senior players, bar Bruno Fernandes, failing to make any significant contribution due to frustrating form and injury issues.

Martial, in particular, seldom stepped up for the Dutchman, spending a big chunk of the season on the sidelines due to his fitness. As such, even when he returned to full fitness and trained ahead of the game at Wembley, Ten Hag opted to overlook him for his matchday squad.

Anthony Martial sends emotional farewell message to Man Utd fans

Anthony Martial did not travel to London with his teammates, and now it has been confirmed he will not rock the famous jersey as Man Utd player again.

The 28-year-old took to Instagram to announce his departure, writing: “Dear Manchester United fans, It’s with great emotion that I write to you today to say goodbye. After nine incredible years at the club, the time has come for me to turn a new page in my career.”

The Frenchman extended his gratitude to his teammates, technical staff, and all the members of the club that he crossed paths with during his time at Old Trafford.

Martial’s last appearance for the Red Devils came in December of 2023. Upon the expiration of his contract, the former AS Monaco star is free to join any club on a free transfer.

His fellow countryman, Raphael Varane has also announced he is leaving this summer. Interestingly, the centre-back, who also struggled with injuries all season, returned to full fitness and saw his name in the starting lineup against City.

Varane delivered a solid performance to lift his second trophy at United.
