How Trent Alexander-Arnold’s decision could lead to exit of Manchester United star

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s situation at Liverpool has the potential to impact Diogo Dalot’s future at Manchester United, as per reports.

Real Madrid have long held interest in the Liverpool full-back, who is nearing the end of his contract at Anfield. Having entered the final 10 months of his deal, Alexander-Arnold will be available on a free transfer should things remain unchanged until the end of this season.

According to GIVEMESPORT, Los Blancos “are keeping tabs” on whether the Englishman decides to extend his stay in Merseyside and sign a new contract with his boyhood club.

However, the Spanish giants have supposedly already set their sights on a backup option if Liverpool manage to convince their superstar to continue with Arne Slot’s side, who sit at the top of the Premier League table after six games this term.

Real Madrid monitor Manchester United star Diogo Dalot – reports

According to the outlet, Real Madrid will turn their attention towards signing Diogo Dalot from Manchester United next summer if there is a “twist at Anfield.”

The Portuguese talent, who moved to Old Trafford from FC Porto in 2018 under Jose Mourinho, has established himself as a key figure in Erik ten Hag’s setup, impressing fans and pundits alike with his versatility and technical quality.

It is understood his consistent performances have also attracted the attention of Carlo Ancelotti. Dalot has reportedly been on the Spanish giants’ radar as a “potential recruit” over the past 18 months as they continue to search for a successor to Dani Carvajal on the right flank of their defence.

The Premier League outfit are in a strong position to keep Dalot away from Madrid as the 25-year-old still has four years left on his current contract, due to expire in the summer of 2028.

However, the club’s hierarchy needs to make sure the Mancunians start challenging for major trophies sooner rather than later to ensure their best players’ heads are not turned by Europe’s biggest clubs.
