Manchester United’s latest signing is a player of great class.

The reaction to Edinson Cavani joining the Red Devils has been a mixed one. On the one hand, supporters are glad that a player of his experience and goal-scoring prowess will be added to the club’s striker options.

However, there are several others who are not satisfied with his signing. United appeared to have made a panic-buy in securing his signature on a free-transfer and many feel that at 33 years of age, the Uruguayan striker is well past his prime.

Irrespective of his performances on the pitch, Cavani is clearly a player brimming with class.

Leading up to his signing, a clip involving Cavani’s days at PSG did the rounds once again.

This was regarding the French side’s Champions League tryst against Borussia Dortmund. It involved the Bundesliga outfit’s latest signing Erling  Braut Haaland being overconfident in his appraisal of the leg ahead after scoring twice in their first meeting.

The teenager went on to post “My city, not yours”, in reference to Paris.

Sure enough, when the ensuing tie was secured by the eventual Champions League runners up, the players had a gala time reminding Haaland of his remark.

In fact, the PSG players went all the way, repeatedly mocking the young striker’s “tranquillity” celebration.

However, in the circulated clip, Cavani clearly stands apart from his teammates and chooses not to mock the youngster.

This gesture alone has gone down very well and has been interpreted as a mark of his brilliance and professionalism as a top player.

While his time at United remains to unfold, he is bound to be a talent that youngsters like Mason Greenwood will benefit from working with. The dressing room dynamics in a youthful Red Devils’ roster just got an excellent addition to look up to and learn from.
