‘The next Figo’ is on the watchlist of the Red Devils as they keep a close eye on him to potentially recruit. The youngster recently agreed a five-year deal with the Portuguese side – a sign that they want to invest time and money in nurturing him.

However, the Mancunians seem to have already set their sights on Gomes as The Mirror report they have agreed a first refusal deal with the Liga NOS outfit for him. The agreement is said to be for a fee around £14 million.

This agreement ensures that United get first priority in negotiating for and with the player and gives them the right to be front in the line before a third party is allowed to negotiate.

The English outfit have a very good track record of transfers with Sporting – from Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani and recently, Bruno Fernandes. So a move to Manchester would be a perfect place to put himself on the map. The trio turned out to be great signings for the Premier League side so following in their footsteps would be a poetic career.

Fernandes especially has cemented himself as a vital player in the squad after becoming the most impactful signing in club history. The midfielder now remains the most consistent name on the teamsheet.

And with comparisons to the great Luis Figo, it looks as if Ole Gunner Solskjaer has found himself a great prospect; at least on paper.

Moreover, with recent emphasis on youth, the Norwegian is taking his side through a very positive path.

However, it is yet to be seen whether the Old Trafford outfit will splash the agreed £14 million on the 16-year-old. It is likely that club scouts will keep and eye on him and track his progress.
