How Cavani Nearly Changed The Game With His First Touch On The Pitch
Man Utd’s clash against Chelsea appeared to be an uneventful affair when one looks solely at the 0-0 scoreline. However, as such results often go in the Premier League, the actual game was one riddled with defensive discipline and several close chances.
Of course, a massive VAR oversight when it came to a Harry Maguire foul leading to a penalty will make the London Blues feel cheated off their chance to break the deadlock.
For United, however, the chance to score was often met by the trusty and athletic frame of Edouard Mendy in goal.
Thus, Old Trafford did not see another defeat mar its campaign. However, the Theatre of Dreams did witness a sight that it has been deprived of for a while now.
Edinson Cavani made his debut for Man Utd on Saturday night. Donning the illustrious no.7 jersey, the Uruguayan star was brought on with the hope of adding the special element which would lead to goals galore.
In fact, the 33-year-old almost found the back of the net with his first touch of the game itself. Making the most out of a Bruno Fernandes pass, Cavani could have easily manoeuvred the ball into the back of the net but only found the side-netting instead.

Regardless, it was quite something for a player who has not had much football to play since last functioning for PSG prior to the lockdown.
The rest of the fixture did not see much action for the striker with the bulk of the play being finished up on the other side. Further, he did have his lacklustre moments that fans will be wary of.
Anthony Martial’s suspension and Odion Ighalo’ relative absence of impact made the onus fall on the prolific striker to make the key difference.
However, the sample space is still small and fans will be hoping that their new no.7 gets firing soon.
