Old Trafford saw excellence above par as a long-awaited derby ended with a thumping victory. Manchester United orchestrated an easy 6-2 win over Leeds United.

Scott McTominay was the man of the day as the midfielder netted two rapid goals to start off the fixture. Bruno Fernandes got another brace to his name, one of them coming through a penalty, while Victor Lindelof and Daniel James were able to share the spoils too with a goal each to their name.

Marcelo Biesla’s men had consolation goals via Liam Cooper and Stuart Dallas to their credit but at the end of the day it was Ole Gunnar Solskjær who was beaming as the Red went marching on into the top three.

Fans were pleased with their entire outfield lineup and one man got special praise.

James bagged an excellent goal on the night and celebrated it well too. Incidentally, while the forward has been off form for much of his time at Old Trafford, save for a brilliant opening spell of games, the past few fixtures may indicate a change of fortune.

The 23-year-old has now netted goals against Finland, Istanbul Basaksehir, and now Leeds too in what has been a good resurgent form.

His pace was heralded as was his Premier League heroics after this long a period of drought, especially since Solskjær trusted him with the full ninety minutes.

Joy has been soaring high amongst the ranks of the Red Devils with hope for the Premier League already setting in, perhaps a bit too prematurely.

How the Norwegian is able to effectively use talent like the Welshman and efficiently deploy squad rotation is bound to be one of the key ways in which the busy period ahead can be traversed.
